What We’ve Been Watching
Larissa: Simple Plan headlined the Rock The Lake music festival in Kelowna this year, so to get prepped, I watched the documentary Simple Plan: The Kids In The Crowd on Amazon Prime. It was cool to see a Canadian band get featured on Prime (versus Canadian-based Crave) - and even cooler to see them live in person!
Mason: Am I… two for two, Sofa Taters? Not to toot my own horn but I think I called that Too Much would be a hit from little more than the description and who was involved. (I might have to start nagging Larissa to watch this so we can cover it together one Thursday after this month…) Suffice it to say, I’ve started watching this for fun and I’m really enjoying the “go-too-far” comedy about womanhood. It actually reminds me of Baroness von Sketch Show. Not that it’s a sketch show, but its style of comedy. Which, as far as I’m concerned is a good thing. Baroness von Sketch Show was high caliber comedy and to this day sometimes I still wake up in a cold sweat with untold dread in my soul as I realize again that it really was cancelled in 2021. At least it lead directly to this show.
What We’re Excited To See
Mason: I feel like I’ve been very honest about who I am, and this should be the most obvious and expected thing to come out of our TV Guide when it features Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Larissa: Did you know that Reese Witherspoon likes to surf? Apparently she is so invested in the sport that she is the executive producer of the competition show, Surf Girls! Last season was just Hawaiian surfers, however, the sophomore season will feature an international cast of competitors! Count me in.
What We’re Talking About
Mason: This week I’ve been absorbing a lot to do with women-centred stories because I’m getting ready to review some of them and, of course, my mom’s birthday is coming up this month. But this week I’ve been thinking about strong women and because of that I was reminded of Princess Glimmer. Glimmer is a fighter. In all of the alternate timelines we get to see, she’s still a fighter. Glimmer is the best parts of her mom (the queen of Brightmoon) and her dad. I feel very blessed in that there has been a little Glimmer in every woman I’ve ever known. Which actually makes her name really fitting, because she is a very bright young woman representative of the strength, will, and hope of Etheria— and in us all. She is aspirational now, more than ever, for reasons that I hope are very obvious. We all need a glimmer of hope, a glimmer of strength, and a glimmer of courage to act. We all need Glimmer.

Larissa: We are on a push for 100 subscribers. We just need 9 more. If you are reading this and you are currently not subscribed, please consider doing so now.
We will get a little email notification from Substack when we reach our goal, which will make us very happy.
We will do a She-Ra themed Prime Time review to commemorate the occasion, which you will receive.
Perhaps, most importantly, Miss Paisley Poo wants you to.
