What We’ve Been Watching
Mason: After speed-running through both seasons of 1923 (check out our season 2 review HERE), I’ve decided it’s time to check out the pre-prequel of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone by getting settled into 1883.
Larissa: If we are calling Rock the Block HGTV’s biggest show in our latest Prime Time newsletter, then Tournament of Champions is Food Network’s most epic competition show! Guy Fieri’s randomizer can be ruthless, but these chefs cook their hearts out! Who will win TOC 6? Tune in with me to find out!

What We’re Excited To See
Mason: I’m a nerd at heart and not hiding it. Available on Star Wars Day (if you don’t know the date, this show is not for you), this animated show promises danger and intrigue as we delve into the deep underworld of the galaxy.
Larissa: I am unduly excited for Wear Whatever The F You Want from Amazon Prime. As a long-time (some would say “hardcore”) fan of What Not To Wear from TLC, I have been waiting for more from this pair! Amazon knocked it out of the park for me with Making the Cut co-hosted by Project Runway alumni Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn (they made it work!), so I have high hopes for this Stacy and Clinton Amazon Prime semi-reboot.
What We’re Talking About
Mason: Duck Dodgers is coming back? What?? I never saw the 2003 series when it came out because I didn’t have Cartoon Network back then, but honestly I love this move— namely because Cartoon Network is owned by Warner Bros Discovery and as of recently they’ve been in the habit of deleting, cancelling, and removing much-loved and anticipated shows and movies for a big(?) tax break. I hope this is the start of a reversal of that trend.
Larissa: I am currently in Red Deer, Alberta, checking out Horse Expo Canada 2025! While there, I was able to meet some stars of Heartland! If you are in Canada, you can watch it on CBC Gem!
New To Streaming
April 28th to May 4th
Sullivan’s Crossing (🇨🇦) (Crave)
If you saw last week’s TV guide, you saw that the newest season of this Canadian drama series premiered on CTV in the land of snow and ice we call home: Canada. Now, this show about a neurosurgeon with a past lands on the Canadian streaming giant Crave. We just hope we can keep finding new title card pictures to use because next week Americans get to see it when it hits The CW (the home of DC superheroes and brooding Confederate vampires circa 2009 to 2017). Find it on Crave this week with your Canadian IP address or a VPN.
Chef’s Table: Legends (Netflix)

So far, we can tell you that it will feature celebrity chefs José Andrés, Alice Waters, Thomas Keller, and Jamie “Irrationally Angry At Chickie Nuggies” Oliver. Check it out on Netflix this week.
The One That Got Away (🇬🇧) (Acorn TV)
Acorn TV brings us this murder mystery about a crime-solving couple who broke up years ago but reunite after they discover a victim reminiscent of the case that originally brought them together from across the pond. Check out this blood-soaked will they/ won’t they this week on Acorn TV!
Wear Whatever the F You Want (Prime Video)
This new reality TV show has fashion consultants Stacy London and Clinton Kelly who will help people dress their best while honouring their comfort and personal style instead of adhering to restrictive fashion norms. Prime Video is where to see the magic happen.
Turning Point: The Vietnam War (Netflix)
This five-episode docuseries, coming to Netflix at the end of April, doesn’t only focus on the military loss of the Vietnam War and the political ramifications and consequences. No, that’s been done to death already. This one also focuses on the social and cultural ramifications of what losing this war did to the USA, in ways that, we’re sure, have rippled through the years and can still be felt today. Rethink your patriotism on Netflix this week!
Carême (🇫🇷) (Apple TV+)
This interesting and thrilling new series— a co-production between France and the US— will detail the life of Antoine Carême, the first celebrity chef who spent his career cooking for the rich and powerful while innovating French cuisine, loving every Parisian socialite he could get his hands on, and, if the series and book its based on is to be believed, being a spy. The source book, “Cooking for Kings: The Life of the First Celebrity Chef” by the British actor Ian Kelly, makes the highly debated and not widely believed claim that Carême was a spy for the French government. It should, however, make for compelling TV! Check it out on Apple TV+ this week.
The Eternaut/ El Eternauta (🇦🇷) (Netflix)
A Spanish language Argentinian/ American science fiction co-production, El Eternauta tells the story of a renegade detachment of human survivors during the aftermath of a horrible, deadly snowstorm as they fight against an alien onslaught that is being directed by an unseen and seemingly unknowable force. Netflix has all the sci-fi action with alternate language tracks and multilingual subtitles at the end of April for you.
Cheat: Unfinished Business (Netflix)
Have you been cheated on? Did that infidelity end your relationship? Well, in this new reality TV show, exes reunite after infidelity ended their relationship to confront each other once again. See the emotions run high and old scars torn open on Netflix this April.
Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight/ Astérix & Obélix: Le Combat des Chefs (🇫🇷/🇧🇪) (Netflix)
Astérix, the short but fearless soldier from the former territory of Gaul, is a character from a widely popular French comic first published in 1959 in a Franco-Belgian magazine. Astérix and his friend Obelix are aided in their fight against nearby Roman camps by a magic Gaulish potion made for their village by their resident Druid, Getafix, which grants them increased strength, stamina, speed, and other enhancements with much the same effect as Popeye with his spinach. This show has the titular characters forced to go without the aforementioned magic potion after a confluence of happenings leaves Getafix unable to make it for them. Should you decide to watch it with your kids (rated TV-Y7), it also should include humour for you, too. The Astérix series loves its puns and frequently uses them, especially for character names. A Roman antagonist is named Gluteus Maximus, and he is literally the butt of the joke. Astérix & Obélix: The Big Fight can be found on Netflix this week, and other Astérix stories can be found wherever you buy books.
In the Kitchen With Harry Hamlin (AMC+)
American icon Harry Hamlin and his niece, chef Renee Guilbault, host this cooking and lifestyle show that promises to feature good recipes, comedy, all the feels, and even celebrity guests (like musical icon Kenny G). Tune into IFC or AMC+ this week for all the smooth jazz action.

Beyond Paradise (🇬🇧) (BritBox)
After leaving the fictional British overseas territory of Saint Marie to be with Martha Lloyd, Detective Inspector (DI) Humphrey Goodman brings his unique brand of Catholic guilt genius to a small, close-knit community in Devon. Lovers of British police procedurals might recognize some of the locations and names from a related series, Death in Paradise. Check it out on BritBox sometime this week.
The Four Seasons (Netflix)
The Four Seasons is a miniseries starring American comedy icons Steve Carell, Tina Fey, and Will Forte, as well as the American multidisciplinary icon Colman Domingo. They star, with others, as married couples who vacation together regularly until one of them gets divorced and starts to bring a much younger woman on their trip. Pegged as a feel-good rom-com, Netflix is debuting this at the beginning of May.
Angi: Fake Life, True Crime/ Angi: Crimen y mentira (🇪🇸) (Netflix)
This two-episode docuseries tells the true story of the murder of Ana Páez, killed by María Ángeles Molina (AKA: “Angi”), who is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence (18 for the murder, 4 for the insurance fraud). Spain was rocked by this case, and Spanish media called it a “near-perfect crime” due to how meticulously and carefully it was planned. Be prepared for a plot most foul on Netflix at the start of May.
Unseen (🇿🇦) (Netflix)
This South African crime drama follows a professional house cleaner who gets sucked into a world of crime and murder while she looks for her mission husband after he was released from prison. Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld (Disney+)
May The Fourth Be With You! Dropping on Disney+ on Star Wars Day (May 4th), this animated series focuses on the much-discussed seedy criminal underbelly of the wider Star Wars canon as its protagonists— a former assassin, bounty hunters, mercenaries, and other ne’er-do-wells explore the galaxy for their own agendas. Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (ABC)
Wheel of Fortune, the game show where contestants guess letters in a word or phrase for a cash prize, continues its long tradition of inviting celebrities to play for charity in this spinoff from the original that debuted in 2021. Starting off this season after a holiday special last December, creator Merv Griffin (who has been dead since 2007) starts this season off on the wrong foot by having The Daily Wire’s favourite bigoted, misognyistic, Christian Nationalist Matt Walsh on as a contestant. Wear Whatever The F You Want makes me realize it's been a while since I watched a makeover show. They used to be everywhere when I was a teen / young adult.
